The ICBN is delighted with the opportunity to present to the Joint Committee on Health
and Children this Thursday, November 7th. Our report, which will be presented by
Chair of the network Brid Carroll, will inform the committee on the uniqueness of
children’s grief and outline the importance, value and necessity good and timely
support has on the healing process.
20,889 children under 19, in Ireland, are currently bereaved of a mother or father and some,
depending on location, have no access to services. The ICBN is focused on improving
this and ensuring that information and access to support is available to all who need it.
As the ICBN is still in its infancy we are delighted to have this time to highlight to TD’s
the needs of bereaved children and will make recommendations for their consideration.
